CCC certificate

Since August 2003, the CCC standard applies to 132 products, which are divided into 19 groups. Schmersal switchgears are classified in Group 3 (Low Voltage components) and therefore have to bear the CCC label when marketed in China. Only inductive, capacitive and optical proximity switches with a voltage range lower than 36 V are released from this obligation.

European manufacturers often criticise the CCC certification system, considering that the tests requested are relatively extensive and expensive. The products must be submitted to an accredited lab in China for type approval (standard compliance check) and Chinese auditors inspect the manufacturer’s production (production quality control). Both procedures must be fulfilled to obtain the CCC label, which is affixed onto the product – similar to the CE label.

The Schmersal Group prematurely acknowledged the potential of the Chinese market and decided to guide its customers there. As soon as 1999, a production plant was established near Shanghai. Meanwhile, the Schmersal Industrial Switchgear Co. has 65 staff members and produces lift switchgears as well as safety switches, especially for the South-East-Asian market. Simultaneously, a nationwide sales network with six offices in the main industrial regions of China was set up.

The series “made in China“ of course all are compliant with the requirements of the CCC approval. Furthermore, many other series, „made in Wuppertal“, also hold the CCC certification, apart from the CE certification for the European home market and the UL/CSA approval for North-America. In this way, Schmersal is able offering a wide range of switchgears both for lift industry and machinery building with an appropriate certification for the major target markets – including the expansive Chinese market.
