Application:
These units distinguish themselves through an optimum of robustness, scale and functionality for use in machines and commercial vehicles. Typical areas of application are machines of the food-processing industry and of process engineering, but they are also used in lift gates of commercial vehicles, hydraulic platforms, airfield apron vehicles and vehicle haulers. In contrast to smaller devices the type series K is suitable especially for rough industrial uses, including the usage outdoors.
In comparison to multifunctional devices, as they are used for example in crane steering and industrial trucks, they are built considerably smaller at a limited functionality.
Design and mode of Operation:
Devices consist of a button head with operating lever, which can be moved in up to 4 directions, and corresponding contact elements. The movements of the operating lever are translated into a linear movement by the use of special index cams inside the button casing, then passed on via cam followers in the contact elements, where they are converted into digital and analogue switching signals.
Intermediate pushbuttons use spring power to automatically relocate the operating lever into the home position after it is released. The operating lever of intermediate switches locks into place in the activated position.
There is also a combination of intermediate switches and intermediate pushbuttons available. These devices offer a combination of relocating and maintaining the lever’s position, so they work like intermediate switches in one direction and intermediate pushbuttons in the other. As a protection from accidental shifts out of the home position all devices offer an additional mechanical lock.
