With the new European directives, explosion protection and, in particular dust explosion protection, has taken on great importance. Elan produces a broad range for this particularly sensitive and critical area of use as an “explosion-protection competence centre” of the Schmersal Group. Position switches with and without safety function, solenoid switches, contact-free safety sensors and safety interlocks are available.

Application:
The new generation of safety relay modules PROTECT SRB EXi combines the tried-and-tested safety technology of the PROTECT SRB series with the requirements for explosion protection.
The PROTECT SRB EXi modules are developed in accordance with the ATEX-Directive 94/9/CE and the European standards EN 60079 et seq. This enables the use of emergency stop control devices and guard door monitoring equipment in gas and dust explosion-endangered areas. The monitoring circuits can be lead up to in zone 1 or zone 21. Here, appropriate intrinsically safe [Ex ib] equipment of the ATEX-category (2)GD is concerned. The modules themselves furthermore can be fitted in the Ex area of gas zone 2 (ATEX-category 3G). more
