Brand-new products
A high level of safety, improved ergonomics, the optimum integration of safety functions in work processes, shifting of safety technology from the hardware to the control levels: this optimisation potential is a driving force in the development of our products.

"A single product series for all imaginable application scenarios": With this idea in mind the Schmersal centre of excellence for optoelectronic safety products in Mühldorf/Inn, Germany, has developed new type 4 safety light curtains and light-grids according to IEC/ EN 61496, and first introduced those innovations on SPS/ IPC/ DRIVES. more
The new PROTECT SELECT series close the gap between safety relay modules and programmable safety control systems. more
Besides introducing new safety products on SPS/IPC/DRIVES 2011 the Schmersal Group also presented its extended services portfolio. more
For "streamlined" man-machine interfaces and intuitive operation:
Forwards, backwards, right and left: Spring-return joystick switches from the Schmersal Group allow the operator to move a woodworking machine tool in four directions. Or – if the manufacturer has opted for the maintained joystick switch - a single switching unit can perform four different lockable functions. more
The new PROTECT SELECT compact safety controller can be configured without any knowledge of programming and without manufacturer-specific parameter setting. The controller comes with a number of preconfigured practice-oriented programmes, from which the user can simply select the suitable programme for his application – that explains the designation "Select". more
Machinery and plants with hazardous run-on movements: measure the run-down time! On machinery and plants, which are likely to produce dangerous run-on movements, the run-down time must be measured at regular intervals. The run-down time is the time expiring between the activation of the safety guard and the stop of the hazardous movement. more
The CSS technology developed and patented by Schmersal has proven itself at international level. The SPS/IPC/DRIVES 2010 is the perfect platform to present the next step in the development: the RSS 36 electronic safety sensor. more
New safety switching components with AS-i Safety interface An increasing number of users discover the persuasive and manifold advantages of the “AS-Interface Safety at Work” (AS-i Safety) communication standard, such as: simplified wiring and integration, additional diagnostic information, smooth parameter setting, universal application possibilities. more
Compact and flexible: operating panel with emergency stop device The new BDF 100 operating panel enables a direct mounting of the emergency stop device on the safety guard and therefore within the field of vision onto the process without any great effort. more
Hygiene-compliant magnetic safety switches Especially for the food machinery constructors among our customer, we have de-veloped a new magnetic switch, which can be optimally integrated in the sur-rounding construction due to its compact design. more
From manufacturer to service provider and solution provider The Schmersal Group broadens its service offer with respect to machinery safety. The new “Safety Consulting” service aims at providing the company’s customers with comprehensive consultancy regarding issues such as the implementation of directives and standards in actual constructional practice. more
Flexibly securing hazardous areas with optoelectronics Compared to conventional safety doors, optoelectronic safety guards often provide for a more flexible machine operation. The operator’s flexibility is even enhanced, when safety light curtains with comfortable parameterizable muting and blanking functions are used. more
More functions for a more attractive price: the advantages of standardisation Until now, the SRB 211 series featured different safety-monitoring modules for the evaluation of the signals of conventional safety switchgear, magnetic safety switches and optoelectronic safety guards, the so-called AODP´s. The new SRB 211 series enables wiring all three types of safety switchgear to the same safety-monitoring module. more
Universally applicable, extremely reliable Machinery safety and explosion protection are two fields placing extremely high requirements on industrial switchgear. The new position switches of the EX-T 335 series meet these requirements and therefore are suitable for the position monitoring of safety guards in explosive atmospheres. more
Safety guards on conventional machinery and plants frequently have a structure consisting of commercially available modular profile systems. For some machine types however, more sophisticated doors are used, for instance when a special sound insulation or noise control must be realized. Another particularity are the laser machining plants, where penetration of a strayed laser beam through the door gap must be prevented. To this effect, the frames or the profiles of these safety guards must feature an overlapping. For these and other applications, the Schmersal Group has developed a new variant of the AZM 200 solenoid interlock. more
