Safe signal Processing

Within the Schmersal Group Elan is the competence centre for safety relay modules that process signals from emergency stop control devices and safety switchgear. We offer a broad range here and advise customers on the selection of suitable safety modules. In addition to many standard devices, safety relay modules with special functions, e.g. with differentiated restart, are available.

The PROTECT-PSC control system is used in complex individual machines and in small to medium sized integrated production systems. Protect-PSC is suitable for the safe analysis and interconnection of several safety-oriented signals and to process standard operational input and output signals. A main advantage of Protect-PSC is its modular structure. The basic configuration provides 8 safe inputs and 6 safe outputs.

Safety drive monitoring system

Range Protect PDMS
Application: The safety drive monitoring system PDMS is used in complex individual machines and in small to medium sized integrated production systems. This system enables the machine builder monitoring standstill and speed of, for instance, spindle or axle drives in a safe manner. To detect the movement, encoders, resolvers or two proximity switches can be used. The system monitors the signals from rotary and linear movements. The drive speed to be monitored can be individually programmed. The PDMS system extends and completes the features of the modular PROTECT-PSC safety system with monitoring functions for machinery and plants. more

Application: SRB202MSL serves as a temporarily and automatic bridge to a one (or several) safety function(s) by a safety-oriented control system during the normal operation of the machine (cf EN 61 496-1). This means that the module bridges the output signal of a protective device in order to travel into a secured hazard zone, for example with safety light barrier or safety light grid, with a driver-free automated transport system. Detection sensors in the form of commercially available proximity switches, light barriers or position switches are used to distinguish whether a person is approaching the hazard area or a transport system is entering or leaving the hazard area. more
